I am a *very* amateur photographer, but I've gotten into digital photography mainly through photographing my family on various excursions, sporting events, etc. I currently use a Sony Alpha-A200 DLSR, which I bought 2 yrs ago and is commonly referred to as an "entry-level DLSR." However, I've found it very adequate for my purposes. I use Picasa on Linux for most of my photo editing/manipulation, though I've also been known to experiment with Gimp on occasion. I've been using Picasa Web Albums to post my photos, as well as SmugMug.
